Miscellaneous Art 2024



September 2024 - I painted several refrigerator magnets. This is one of Sherman Forest, the place we stay in Maine, the home of best friends!



September 2024 - Another heart card for a 50th Anniversary for Ralph and Gayle.


September 2024 - This magnet painting is for Pam and Brian of their new home.  I will paint another for them when this finish renovations (a before and after as you will).


September 2024 - Found this adorable wish box for my BFF Becky. I painted this extra special teeny weenie gift card for her.





August 2024 - These are the Maine postcards that I painted while on vacation this year to send to family and friends. I try to paint these watercolor cards depicting some of the sights of our trip every year, and it helps to keep me up on my skills as well. Bottom photo is of a birthday wish for my neighbor Karen (bad photo, but the only one I have).

July 2024 - This card, flowers in a vase was painted for some very lovely teens that volunteer with the Sunday school at my church. Annabelle and Beatrice are outstanding teens that have been chosen to participate in Student Leadership University, a national organization dedicated to raising up young Christian leaders. I am so proud of these ladies!
 




July 2024 - This flower-filled heart was painted for my neighbors, Wayne and Kathy. Wayne's 94 year old father Marvin passed away on July 4th, apropos for a man who served faithfully in the military.  It is always heart breaking to loose a parent, the grief so gripping. I hope this card will sooth their hearts.





July 2024 - This is a 4x6 inch canvass I painted for a wonderful man Bill, who is known as the Yogis' Mascot.  He has been going to YMCA yoga for more than 17 years and is now moving permanently to Massachusetts with his wife, where they can be closer to their two adult children. He was one of the first I met when I started the class, and he made me feel so welcomed to be there, a real ice breaker--now a heartbreaker--wish he didn't have to leave. He will be missed by all the Yogis.

I had been thinking about replacing the artwork hanging above our bed.  I had a couple of old canvases that had been moved with me a couple times. So ideas started bouncing between Gary and I. We love Maine, so many memories together there. And we also wanted to share our favorite spot in our own backyard. We were really missing our annual summer visit to Maine, as it always has a way of making everything alright. So the Maine painting is of our sanctuary on the Sheepscot River, in Edgecomb, Maine (photo from 2010). We always think of our favorite spot for kayaking, you always see the beach and environment so differently. We naturally gravitate toward Caladesi and Honeymoon Islands in our own backyard here in Florida. So, we hung the paintings of our favorite places over our bed. I am sure they will bring sweet dreams, whether we are in Florida, or in Maine!

Unusually Perfect Friendships 2022

Sometimes the people you meet in the most unusual places turn out to be the most unusually perfect friendships. Take my friends Eman and Rick.  Met them on a solo cruise my hubby and I took in January of 2020. She tags me on her social media to keep me up to date, she texts me memes and articles, sends me AAA magazine from the office she manages in Hudson Valley, NY, and she calls all the time.  The really cool thing is that she and Rick were engaged and started planning their wedding and honeymoon and she lovingly included me in all the planning, all the pain, and all the joy of such an event. So what did I do? I painted them a painting depicting all the special things of the event--from the lace of her train, that special bouquet she put together to remember her mother on that special day, and of course the tropical touch for the honeymoon wishes, and from our memories of that one unusually perfect trip that turned out to be the most unusually perfect of friendships.  M...
